I’M FRUSTRATED–with myself! The right and wrong ways to deal with it.

Ugh!! Why did I do that AGAIN?!? I’m so frustrated!

Why do we do continue to do things that make us feel icky inside and like a fat blob?!
I know I’m being a little graphic, but it’s the truth!! That’s how we feel and we call ourselves much worse in our own heads.

But we’re human. We go through ups and downs. We make mistakes and we also soar. We have big wins and deep losses. This is our game of life.

But in the end, the winner is one who learns to control her mind and gets quicker and quicker at picking herself up and moving in a positive direction without missing a beat.

I found myself frustrated at my recent lack of self-discipline and it was not only creating stagnation in my goals, but ultimately the physical effects were adding up to feeling tired, bloated, low energy, puffy eyes and just plain yucky on the inside.

The frustration I was feeling could lead to two outcomes:

  1. Continued downward spiral because I had already “lost”, or
  2. The catalyst to change my direction and be the reminder of what I’m wanting to move away from.

Finding Your Peace Amidst A Divided Country

Whew! A very historic Election Day is over! But did it rob your peace?

More specifically, have you ALLOWED it to rob your peace? Big difference.

Regardless of who you voted for or how you feel about the current state of the U.S. or our uncertain future, it is imperative that you find peace. And here’s how:

1) Meditate on these verses. Allow God to speak to you and bring the peace you seek.

  • John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
  • Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
  • John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

2) Make quiet time to pray and give your worries, anxieties and fears to God. God is not scared or intimidated by your raw feelings! Be honest and express your deepest concerns. You’ll find peace at the end of your raw honesty.

3) Let go. When you stew and fret and doubt and worry, you not only make your own brain a battle ground and breeding ground for seeds of life-stealing fear, you only grow that which you are afraid of or don’t want.

  • Luke 12:25 “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”

4) Your mind is IMMENSELY powerful. Be very diligent what you allow to enter, live and exit.
Be purposeful and wise in choosing your thoughts.

  • Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”

>> Final thought: Whether you’re in jubilation or dread about the results of the election and the future of our country, remember, God is in control. Rest in His peace, follow His will for your life, and no other outside governments can steal your peace.

How strong is your faith in the God of the Universe?

When you’re not proud of your choices you want to throw in the towel…

Life is not always easy. And when the going gets tough it IS easy to forget the good things, forget our progress, forget that we’re “human,” get derailed, beat ourselves up mentally and turn on ourselves with nasty self-talk.

Why is that?

Just yesterday we were proud of ourselves, things were going well, we saw beauty and life all around us, then the very next day it can seem as if the whole world has turned upside down and we’re left in frustration and despair.

How easily we forget the good. How quickly our minds can revert to the negative.

If you’re in one of those seasons where you don’t see a way out, a silver lining, a glimmer of hope–I want to remind you that it’s a beautiful thing we serve a God who is so much bigger and sees the things we don’t and works in ways we cannot see–who is the One on the throne and ultimately in control.

The devil’s sole mission is to kill, steal and destroy anything that will distract, discourage and disconnect us from God’s love and our faith and belief that He’s working for our good!

Do not give in!

Do not let the seeds of doubt and discouragement have any sort of home in your precious heart.

>>Final thought: I encourage you today to return in your heart to a place of trusting God’s goodness, mercy and love in spite of your current circumstances. Can you show Him your faith is still strong and steadfast, even amidst personal struggles or chaotic circumstances?
His love for you is unwavering. Can you demonstrate the same?
