When life gets you down and you feel defeated at every turn…
God says I love you. I care about you. About your struggle. Trust me. Love me back. Have faith that I haven’t left you. Ask for my help. Share with me your pain. Your hurt. Your disappointment. I want to hear from you. Don’t turn to others first and me last. Even if you’re mad at me, I can handle your questions. Your feelings. Your raw emotion. I created you, remember? I knit you together and love you with a passion so strong I sent my son to die for you, to be a perfect sacrifice for you, so we could be together. Let me in. Let me restore. Rest in my presence. Give your burdens to me so I may give you rest. You are worthy. You are enough. You are my beloved daughter.

God’s design has always been going against the grain, against the majority, the road less taken.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 7:13-14:
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
What’s so interesting to me is that we can apply the exact same truth to our health and modern society. I don’t think the world Jesus lived in had the same health troubles and concerns we face today–many of which are our own doing.
We’ve created our own downward spiral as a society because of the culture and habits we’ve cultivated around fast food, candy, soft drinks and convenience.
So it takes a wise person, someone astute, who chooses to see past the everyday ploys of marketing, advertising and gimmicks, and who intentionally decides to take the road less traveled–that ultimately leads to better health.
Going against the grain (both literally and figuratively) is the only way we will begin to reclaim our health, our vitality, our energy and our waistlines! But man it’s not easy!
Without going into an extensive nutritional lesson on how grain, wheat and gluten negatively affect our bodies, I encourage you to begin reclaiming your life and the health God created your body to have–one bite at a time.
>> Final thought: This week I encourage you to go against what is so easily available to us via soda machines, candy aisles, drive through lanes and take a stand to take the road less traveled by the majority around us. Just as the Bible encourages us to “take the narrow gate” that leads to eternal life, we need to take the narrow way that leads to our bodies best health.

So what are you going to do about it?
Have you ever heard the saying, “God helps those who help themselves?”
Let’s think about this for a second—then ask 1) is it true? And 2) is that statement supported in God’s word–His ultimate guidebook?
Does that mean that in order for me to deserve or earn God’s love and blessing on my life I need to DO something first? Perform? Act? Be dutiful? Be diligent?
While those things are good in some respect, it’s not a REQUIREMENT for God’s love or blessing. There’s nothing you NEED to do in order for God to love you more than He already does or to make you prosper. Jesus already paid the ultimate price so we could be holy and blameless in God’s sight because we’re covered by the spotless blood of the lamb!
Does that statement, on the other hand, mean that you can sit around and do nothing and expect your dreams and fullest potential to drop out of the sky or land on your doorstep?
Not so much.
Taking action on God’s plan and deepest desires He’s set in your heart is different from the mentality that He will help you “IF you help yourself.”
There is no prerequisite for God’s outpouring of blessing and favor in your life.
He loves you exactly as you are. As He created you to be. As He knit you together in your mother’s womb. But if you’d like to maximize your potential and grow into the best version of yourself that you can, that’s what will happen when you begin taking action on the dreams in your heart.
>>Final thought: Nothing you can do, have done or ever will do that can separate you from the love of God. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you with his life. Make sure you’ve invited Him to live in your heart. Now it’s your turn to maximize your potential and live out His fullest works in you and for the good of those around you. That is what you are called to. It’s time to get to work.
