Healthy eating just.got.easier!

Last week I took a poll online in the Facebook group I lead asking what the biggest challenge people had when it comes to self improvement, and the #1 answer was healthy eating.

So I started thinking “How I could help you make that easier?”
And what came to mind was harnessing the power of our own subconscious mind!

The way we do this is through affirmations.

Affirmations are positive self-talk statements, regardless if they’re currently true or not.

They are talking to yourself in a way that makes your brain believe it is true, and helps you subconsciously start to turn those things into a reality.

Here’s an example of three of my favorite healthy eating affirmations:

  • “I love eating healthy good-for-me food because I know I’m fueling my body in the best way possible.”
  • “I believe God has given me this one body to care for and I take that responsibility seriously. Starting with what I put into it and how I keep it healthy.”
  • “Self-respect is the highest form of love I can show myself. It keeps me available to help others because I have first cared for myself.”

I’ve created a free audio of 10 Healthy Eating Affirmations that you can begin listening to, and repeating aloud every day that will begin to make it easier to make better choices.

But the key is persistence and consistency.

So if you get started, make a personal commitment to yourself to do begin to do this every day as a part of your routine in order for it to begin working for you.

Jiminy Cricket Was Right! How to find God in your daily routine

It’s so easy to get caught up in the craziness of life and we’re running at break-neck speed all hours of the day and we barely have a second to stop and breath, let alone cultivate a deeper relationship with God.

That’s just supposed to go without saying, right? God knows we love Him, so even if we’re not outwardly praising Him every hour of the day, He still knows how we feel on the inside.

So it’s all good, right?

But what about when we start to get stressed, and life begins to overwhelm us.
Who or what do you turn to first?

Stop and think about that for a second, and be really honest with yourself.
It can be really easy to turn to 100 other sources before finally turning to God in our hour of need or desperation.

I know I’ve certainly done the same, so I wanted to share two quick points on how to find God in our daily lives.

  1. Make small changes to create quiet time on a daily basis.

This can be as simple as not putting the radio or ipod on when you’re going to work. Instead, begin to take that commuting time as a special time to talk with God. Showing Him you want to have a deeper and more meaningful relationship by creating the time.

  2. Listen to that still, small, voice.

Once you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior and the Holy Spirit comes to live in your heart, the communication is more like a heightened “intuition” or “conscience.” It’s a silly reference, but if you’ve ever watched Disney’s Pinocchio, then recall Jiminy Cricket’s song, “Always Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide.” This actually is a great way to look at it! The Holy Spirit helps us to determine right from wrong, but you have to begin to listen to those inklings and inner “pullings” or “callings” and your confidence in trusting it will build your faith and your bond with God.

These simple changes, when made deliberately and regularly, can really begin to help you see God in your daily activities. You will begin to feel more confident that He has always been a part of your life, every day, if you just take the time to begin to recognize it. 🙂

The Relief is in the Rain. How to relieve the stresses and pressures of life [VIDEO]

Video

Got caught in an unexpected downpour a mile in to my morning run today. I knew it was humid, but didn’t expect the skies to open up!

But let me tell you, it felt so much better afterwards! The humidity had reached a point that the clouds had to form precipitation and release the rain.

And it got me thinking, this is exactly how it is in life. When the stresses or emotions of life build up to a breaking point, somethings got to give!

And I realized, just like the morning rain,

the relief for ourselves is also in the rain.

The rain of our tears finally flowing down to relief the internal pressure. And that’s how we were designed, and that’s how it’s supposed to be! We need to let those emotions out and turn into tears, or cries, or anything that is going to relieve the pressure.

Now of course not letting your emotions get out of control to treat others negatively or harm another being, but to cry out to God who wants to hear from you and wants you to acknowledge that you need Him and want His help and/or guidance.

I encourage you today to not let the stress of life to build up to a breaking point. Turn first to God for knowledge, wisdom, guidance and to be honest about what you’re going through. The God who created you and loves you wants to hear from you.

Connect with Him today and let the rain fall.

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely

with joy and peace because you trust in him.”

Romans 15:13 (NLT)
