When there are no words and our hearts are broken…

What a night. There are so many broken hearts. How do we handle this pain?

I almost never watch the news, and I barely hear about things everyone else has been talking about until way after fact, if at all. But in wake of yesterday’s events in Dallas, it was all over social media and I finally caught up on what had been transpiring over the past weeks in Minneapolis and Baton Rouge.

How do we process this information of hate and retaliation? How do we see a just God in the midst of this crisis?

In times of great strife, heartache and injustice (that unfortunately transpire every day, all over the world) it’s hard to see God at work, or even present at all. But we know He’s there.

The Bible tells us God is omnipresent–present at all places, at all times–so the questions arise of why doesn’t he prevent tragedies, and why does he let certain things happen?

We may never get the answers this side of Heaven, but we can lean God’s promises that He will avenge the unjust, He will have the ultimate ruling when we get to Heaven. He collects each of our tears and hears our cries when words cannot express our grief or our pain.

He loves us beyond measure and His ways are not our ways. We cannot always see His plan or how He’s moving, but we can ask for His peace that passes all understanding and act in faith that He is who He says He is.

>>Final Thought: Let us not respond with hatred, disdain, fear or retaliation–not with our actions and not in our hearts. Let us cling to the message of love, grace, mercy and forgiveness that we’re called to, and let us release the judgement to God.

Sometimes you just need a *break*– give it to God and REST!

We are going 100 miles a minute almost ALL the time…

Sometimes we just need a break. A time out. A rest.
Two things that help amidst chaos and overwhelm are prayer (aka letting go) and journaling.

When we decide we’re no longer going to shoulder the burden, God has been waiting all along for us to lay it at his feet. It can be hard to fully let go, and if we can’t see a way out or think of HOW God is going to help or solve our strife, we don’t trust it will happen, so we remain in the struggle.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God
so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all
your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7
Secondly, journaling. Not just journaling when you’re so bottled up you might explode (which is a fine time to grab your pen and paper to save the oncoming onslaught) but to make journaling a daily release, daily habit, daily practice to get your emotions out of your head and into your consciousness. Amazing shifts, breakthroughs and beautiful awareness comes from writing out your life–day by day. Patterns emerge. Conversations get deep, frustrations get released, and honest talk with God happens.
 >> Final thought: If you’ve not yet developed a daily journaling practice, why not start today? Grab a pen and scrap paper–it doesn’t have to be fancy. Just start by reflecting on your day. See what comes out. Were there any challenges today that you need to dig into to learn, grow and let go of? Any unsettling feelings come that you should delve a little into the roots of? Simply writing them out will bring you more peace and clarity to help you give them over to God, not as a last resort, but as your “go-to” Redeemer.

Overcoming Healthy Eating Sabotage [FREE TRAINING]

One of the things I hear and deal with the most when it comes to helping clients (and myself) to overcome is personal self-sabotage.

There are many reasons why we do it – if we dare to look that deep inside – but regardless of the underlying WHY, I’ve found an easy and effective way to begin to recognize it sooner, and train your brain to prevent it from happening again.

In last night’s live call I led you step-by-step into:

  • How you identify the first sign of impending sabotage
  • How you identify the specific food, circumstances and feelings associated with your actions
  • How you rewind and replay the scenario to produce a different outcome
  • How you tap into using the power of visualization for success
  • And how to create a personal affirmation to set you up for success at the next tempting encounter.

You can find it all in my recording from last night’s call and go through the steps as I guide you.

Plus I give you info on:

-Easy grab-and-go snacks when you’re on the run

-Exciting upcoming Fit+Faith events and online program possibilities

-How to get a free strategy session with me

-AND- prayer requests and ending the call in prayer.

I think you’ll love these great insights to prevent self-sabotage and everything else that’s packed inside. Download the recording here.

We get right to work, so have a pen and paper handy. 😉

Enjoy, and I look forward to having you on the next one! 🙂

~Melody

P.S. I’ve opened up just 5 slots for a free strategy session to help you hash out any road blocks or stuck areas of your health. To apply for one of the slots, simply apply here.
