I find it fascinating when I survey people or am doing market research that many Christians have not correlated the call to action for our health as being related to our spiritual life.
Perhaps most people do on some level, but not as a daily intentional aspect of how they live their lives and how they care for their bodies. And how much differently would they look and feel if they did!
Our society makes it so easy to pack on the pounds and go down the sugar-induced-coma-lethargy cycle and we wonder why we’re always tired, sluggish and unhappily overweight.
As Christians, if we decided to take the command seriously to treat our bodies as the personal and holy temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), how much would that change our actions–and thus our outcomes?!
>> Final thought: I encourage you today to evaluate how sacredly are you treating God’s temple? Is it thriving with energy, enthusiasm and love, or is it weighed down, tired and unhappy? That simple mental switch can be the catalyst to drive your actions toward creating a healthier and more vibrant body on the outside, which inevitably creates a happier, healthier you on the inside.

God’s design has always been going against the grain, against the majority, the road less taken.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 7:13-14:
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
What’s so interesting to me is that we can apply the exact same truth to our health and modern society. I don’t think the world Jesus lived in had the same health troubles and concerns we face today–many of which are our own doing.
We’ve created our own downward spiral as a society because of the culture and habits we’ve cultivated around fast food, candy, soft drinks and convenience.
So it takes a wise person, someone astute, who chooses to see past the everyday ploys of marketing, advertising and gimmicks, and who intentionally decides to take the road less traveled–that ultimately leads to better health.
Going against the grain (both literally and figuratively) is the only way we will begin to reclaim our health, our vitality, our energy and our waistlines! But man it’s not easy!
Without going into an extensive nutritional lesson on how grain, wheat and gluten negatively affect our bodies, I encourage you to begin reclaiming your life and the health God created your body to have–one bite at a time.
>> Final thought: This week I encourage you to go against what is so easily available to us via soda machines, candy aisles, drive through lanes and take a stand to take the road less traveled by the majority around us. Just as the Bible encourages us to “take the narrow gate” that leads to eternal life, we need to take the narrow way that leads to our bodies best health.
Your sister in Christ,
~Dr. Melody

You need it? God’s got it–in more ways than one.
The amazing and omnipresent thing about God is that He already knows your needs and has already prepared the answers and solutions–we just haven’t yet caught up with them!
God is not bound by time. He lives outside the confines of our temporal reality.
So He sees and lives in all time frames–history and future–simultaneously. That is almost impossible for us to grasp, as it’s the dimension we live in–and are bound by–but not God.
So when we are in a crises, or uncertain about our future, or not knowing or seeing the answers as to what is to come–God is already ahead of us. He’s already been there, prepared a way for us, worked out the details. But we’ve not yet caught up.
Rest assured, my darling, that God has it all under control. Ask for His peace in your situation, not fretting that He has forgotten you or doesn’t know the outcome–He’s gone before you and it’s already done.
Now He asks for us to TRUST Him and have PATIENCE and FAITH as we move through our 24 hours in a day, until we catch up to His solution.
>> Final Thought: What are your worried about, fretting that God is not there, doesn’t understand or can’t help you? Where do you need to have more faith to trust that He’s already gone before you–created your solution–and His word says “Do not fear” and “Trust me” over and over again, but you still haven’t let go….?
Your sister in Christ,
~Dr. Melody
P.S. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing Dad’s out there, mine included, and even more so to our Heavenly Father.
Thank you, God, that you love us even more than our earthly father’s can, even in their best attempts. You are the one who never fails, showers unconditional love on us, and offers us the gift of eternal life. Thank you for your love that we still can hardly comprehend. Amen.
